An Astronomical Event

A fantastic total lunar eclipse occurred on June 15th. The eclipse was not visible in North America but my private eyes saw an amazing red moon in Sullivan County, New York. It came up during the Hall & Oates show at Bethel Woods.

The lunar eclipse phenomenon occurs when the moon passes through Earth's shadow and turns it a rusty red because of the sunlight reflected from Earth's  atmosphere. The image here's for a late 1800s trade card for Eclipse Confectionery. Buy your fish?! Chocolate foiled or Swedish?
