Candy Is A Food! 1928 NCA Ad

In 1928 there was some smashing new candy research that had the NCA, the trade organization representing candy companies, advertising the amazing new breakthroughs. Upon reading the ad you'll find that candy is near perfect and candy can help you from putting on too much weight---even to grow thin!

To support these claims the NCA had a Dr. H. Bundesen author a book they called The New Knowledge Of Candy. The book spelled out the new "scientific" concepts on candy. Bundesen was indeed an authority, he wrote many books on child care, motherhood and children's health, plus he was the commissioner of Health in Chicago.

But, by the 1950s the Doc had run into a little trouble. He's shown here, in court, charged with having not prevented the sales of horse meat.
